Hawa Mein Udta Jaaye...

I happened to notice one girl driving a two-wheeler at a signal. Hmm she was dressed smart and Chic..She seemed to be well off and had fully equipped herself with safety equipments. She was wearing a helmet, white gloves upto her elbows, a big bandana around her head etc etc. But I just could not help noticing that her dupatta was royally flying in the air. The girl had not noticed this. What is the use of wearing gloves and helmets when the flying dupatta is very likely to get caught in the wheel of another vehicle and drag you??? I have noticed this even in the case of pillion riders on bikes. I request all two-wheeler lady drivers to kindly tie back the dupatta/saree pallu and ensure that it is not flying in the air..Who knows, it might save your life one day... We will compliment you for your dress even if it is not displayed in flying mode...

ohh yes!! Its quite scary. Me and DH both have a habit of bring attention toe the riders whose duppata/saree is flying too close to the wheel. And it surprises both of us that we have to warn at least one couple/person during any of our trips out on the road!

Why don't people be careful about such things themselves!

Fashion seems to be more important than safety! I too always tell people to mind their pallu and dupatta while travelling. Very thoughful post!:)

I do it too...warn women that is. Another pet peeve I have is children walking on the outside of the road and also the child holding the adult's hand instead of the other way around :(

A friend of a friend died because because her dupatta go caught in the wheel. She was sitting behind her brother and she was only 22. It was such a shock and one can only imagine what the poor brother must have gone through. I'm glad you've raised ot, the more people that are aware the better.

yes It's important to tie the dupatta . about 20 years back my mother fell from scooter(she was riding pillion and my father was driving) when her dupatta got struck in a cart(rehdi as we say in hindi).
