Overheard

I was passing through a temple. As usual, there was a line of beggars at the front gate. One young lady was begging " Give me 10 rs madam or atleast 5 rs to satisfy my hunger". An old man was sitting few steps away from this lady. He was begging " Give me 50 paise madam, I am hungry". What a difference in the amounts. Alms are now supposed to be given as per the demand from each beggar is it?? But wait, the old man still seems to be atleast a generation backwards. Obviously, he has not taken the rate of inflation into account while asking for 50 paise.. What say??

Now they have started specifying the amount? This is unbeleivable :)

he he.. i love when beggars have demands.. i think it really disqualifies as begging. My sis gave a lady Rs.5 in coimbatore and the lady demanded Rs.10, as special thali is Rs.10... can u beat that..

its true...i once offered a packet of biscuits and bananas to a beggar and could read scorn on his face ... what he wanted was money instead!

I know exactly what you mean... Sometimes i have heard they even return the money saying such a small amount is not of any use to them... Whoever said "beggars can't be choosers?" has not come across our Indian specimens.
